Cosmelan is an innovative system designed to target unwanted pigmentation. Cosmelan works by fading existing pigmentation whilst sedating the formation of new pigment within the skin, working fast and effectively, without the use of hydroquinone. Cosmelan is able to be used on old and new pigment as well as all ethnicities with outstanding results
The first phase of the two-step program is performed in clinic where the skin is prepped, followed by the application of the depigmentation mask.
This mask is then left on the skin between 8 to 12 hours, depending on your skin type, and simply washed off at home with the aftercare products provided.
The following days after the treatment the skin may feel slightly warm and tight. We recommended strict guidelines with homecare to ensure the best results. SPF is vital, as well as keeping the skin well hydrated to help reduce dryness.
The skin may look slightly red when initially washing off the mask at home which may last a few days. The skin may feel tight and can start to flake and may even look a little swollen, this is completely normal. Downtime can vary and can last anywhere from 4 to 14 days but can vary. Again, we strongly recommend using the homecare provided.
This treatment can be performed anytime of the year. Depending on the depth and severity of the pigment most patients may need as little as one to three treatments. Top ups are also available.
